Hello everybody, just joined and this is my first request for help.
I have a 2001 P38 Vogue 4.6 with a Landi gas conversion.
I have two big problems, firstly I left the car in the garage for three weeks and found battery completely dead (familiar with battery drain on the P38) Anyhow, after re-charging the battery and installing I then followed exactly the EKA code sequence from the hand book, all worked once the key fob button was pressed as requested when in the ignition, however it would not fire although turned over briskly. Checked for fuel on plugs and spark, nothing. I am thinking that the becm has lost it's syncronisation with the engine management ecu. although the becm is registering the key, the engine management ecu won't communicate with the becm as the becm will have reset itself when the battery went flat.
I think the code will need reading from the engine management ecu (4 digits), then that code will need to be entered into the becm. The other problem I have is that I live in the wilds of South West France and don't think that there is anybody nearby that can help. Any suggests to help me out?
Regards Phil

You try putting the key in the ignition turning it (not fully to start the thing) and then pressing buttons on the fob? make sure your battery is FULLY charges though, France eh!!

Thanks Dopey, have tried that but still no go, also tried the key in the door lock while holding the button and turning to the right, this disarmed the car and then asked for the fob in the ignition to be pressed, which then gave me the 'start' engine message but no fire. Thanks again Phil

black box soluotions you could pm, bbs guy on here. he is the main man. if your car is out of sync and you can get codes read, you should have 2 codes p1667 p1672. you will have no fuel, no spark..

Thanks j the range, I am very new to all this, in fact this is my first ever forum so forgive me if I sound a bit vague, the bbs guy you refer to is on this site,so how do I contact him, and the numbers you quote are they the numbers on the black box I should be looking for if I had the product?
Thanks again. Phil

Thanks J the range.
Have just purchased the following from Blacbox, hope it solves the problem, will let you know I get on once item is received. Details as follows:
a BeCM Sync-Mate for a Range Rover P38 1999-2001 with a Bosch Motronic Petrol Engine.
The BeCM Sync-Mate solves an increasingly common problem of P38 Range Rovers (95 to 2002) being left stranded because the BeCM, in effect, forgets the immobiliser code it needs to send to the (EMS) engine management system for it to start the engine.
