roll of a cliff lol! chop it in a for a v8! lol
only joking
have tried a larger intercooler?
was it a chip job or a proper remap was you asked what power or was it just a fixed down load?

It was a chip job it was already chipped before i bought the vehicle.

I'll check the link out & cheers pal

When going over a cliff i'll be sure to use a parachute lol lol

I have a K&N filter larger inter-cooler, and its been chipped, and I give it performance enhancing drugs, and crack cocaine (easy start)

Duz it not pull away a little quicker, or is it all in my head, thinking I spent all that ££ on it, so therefore it must be moving faster???

Not with a performance air cleaner it don't. Normally asperated, maybe slight improvement. Turbo no bloody way Jose. Same with larger intercooler, you get just the same amount of airflow there is no change. It's just cooler and more dense. Therefore more fuel needed and a slightly bigger bang.

Fitting a performance Air Filter, will not increase the amount of inducted air....

It will flow easier - yes, but not increase the amount inducted, as this is controlled by the size and speed of the Turbo compressor disc.

A certain size Turbo, spinning at a certain speed can only move and compress a certain amount of air at one time.

If you increase the size of the Turbo, you need to increase the Intercooler size too, to allow the greater amount of air to be cooled in time for induction into the cylinder or else you will only throttle/bottleneck the boosted charge air and the effect of a bigger Turbo is negated.

All good points

but when you conbine a performance air filter, larger turbo, larger intercooler and a re-map and maybe a performance exhaust then you will get more power.

SIMPLES
LOL

anyway it worked on my p38 2.5td. it also worked on my 200 disco, and as they say" the proof is in the pudding", Money well spent!:D

cleaner air and more of it!

more power and better fuel efficiency:D

Total bull****. The turbo cannot do more than pressurised the manifold. It is impossible to get more air in than the turbo can supply. You read to many bumf sheets from those who make money out of dreamers. Cooler denser air is what gives you the power boost and you use more fuel to get it. Simples.

Exactly - but an Air Filter on its own won't boost power, it needs to be combined with extra elements to make a difference.

Your original post indicated that a Performance Air Filter alone would make a difference - which unfortunatly it won't.

yes definatly allard,i used to have a bmw 330d fitted with a huge front mount allard intercooler, remapped, pipercross filter, free flow exhaust system & egr bypass the thing was mental, the torque was immence, really fast and impressive for a diesel, but a 2.5 p38 diesel is like put your foot down and wait 10 mins even when chipped :(buy a v8 imo :D

You have never driven one then, they are not slow by any means.

Exactly Ant. It's surprising how gullible some people can be. £40.00 for something that does nothing more than the standard one you replaced with it.

Is the air filter the same as the one fitted to petrol models? If so its rated to pass enough air to make 220+ horsepower in which case it's already massively overrated for the diesel - even a tuned one.

The PSA group for instance are fond of fitting the same filter across the range, so the 1.1 model benefits from a free flowing performance filter as standard as the filter would be rated to adequately supply the top-end engine in the range.
