Perfect Timing...

After a whole weekend off work, spent mostly doing nothing (other than swapping the NSR window frame) just got home from my mam n dads and realised I had no heater on the journey home (~1mile)...

Checked the water level in the header tank and found it bone dry, added some water and heard dribbling on the floor. Looking by torch light it looks like the water pump, although it could (hopefully) be a hose.

I'll have to drag the bike out of the garage in the morning, then i'll look properly tomorrow night...

Bollix, bastad and buggerations...

Got up half an hour early this morning to get the bike out of the garage, only to find the battery (which has been on a trickle charge over winter) flat as a fart - 0V... Battery charger seems to have packed in

So I pull the pushiron out of the shed and find two flat tyres, one of which will not inflate even with the compressor

Fortunately work seem understanding.


As I'm not at work, might as well check the disco, definitely coming from the waterpump or p-gasket, check paddocks for idea on price - £15 for pump and gasket. Paddocks is twice as far away from my house as work, so tried the motor factors round the corner (literally 200yds away), they have one in...

Bullet bitten, picked up a new fan belt whilst i was there too.
New pump and belt fitted, system refilled and bled in an hour and half - bonus!

Clear all the tools away and shut the bonnet down and 'oh ****' why won't the bonnet shut properly???
Bent the spring plate back up to where it belongs, utched the lock around and checked the catch is moving but for some reason it still won't shut...:doh:

Cuppa tea methinks (before i think ****it and tie the bonnet down with a ratchet strap!)

Any ideas people?

Well, i'll be ****ed...
just been out and slammed it down and it's shut! opens ok, slam it and it shuts ok...

Fecking land rovers!

the cup of tea trick.. fixes the majority of landrover faults I believe in it firmly... that and the 'ask an expert to look under the bonnet' which will always magically cure the most niggling of irritating faults...
