PCV - BMW Part

I fitted the BMW PCV to my 2006 TD4 yesterday. Apart from having to make a slight modification (the slot for the guide was in a different place) it all went well.

As I understand it, the BMW part operates on a cyclone basis instead of using a filter. My question is: Does it make a noise?

The question arises because a new noise has appeared - it sounds like a fast plasticy vibration - particularly apparent on the over-run between gear changes - so I wondered if it was the new PCV 'cyclone action' making the sound.

No noise from mine and I also had to modify the slot.

Good to know I'm not the only one.

I don't think it is making the noise but I wanted another opinion before taking the car apart to find out what's come loose

I didn't modify mine - you making me worried it's not fitted right.
Did you buy just the cyclone insert bit, or the whole bolt on "2 humpped" case.
I got the whole part, So I'm hoping the mod is for fitting the cyclone bit into your old casing.

Think it depends on the year, some need a new groove filed in others don't. If you bought the compete valve then you have no problems.

Same with mine , however its the bottom section of the pcv valve ( still fixed to the top of the engine ) that had the rib in the wrong place . if the vortex insert is not modified to fit , the o ring seal would not be seated in the upper section of the pcv casing , f a o chris 2000

Cheers - I remember it just fitted together nicely, so I'm probably lucky and have the correct year (53 plate) that it just fits

There is obviously a bit of variation in the fitting (no mod needed on my 2005 (55 plate) td4. Just slotted straight in. ?

Hi all, I have 2004 td4 freelander can anyone say where I can get just the cyclone part. anyone got a part no. can you only get from a bmw dealers as LR not interested and would my year nead grove changed. thanks for any help

Same process as this one. Just minus two cylinders

Part number is the same too
