Hi guys

Today discovered the PAS pump is shot - less than a year old and <c.1k miles....bit ****ed about it but are where we are. No receipt or anything, so down to me.

Now, firstly does anyone have an OEM (not a shitpart effort which is what I think I naively ended up with last time) one laying about (that's good, obviously) for a '92 200TDi by any chance they want to sell ?

If not then I need to go OEM hunting which rules out Paddocks & Craddocks as they'll send me a shitpart effort - not happening. So, where do I go ? One for @jamesmartin ?

Cheers !

Someone was giving away some the other day on the series 2 forum.

I would go 2nd hand every time, its not like pas pumps are a high fail item.

Good to know, I might be needing one soon too. Is it worth spending a bit more and getting a reconditioned one? I don’t have the time, or experience, to rebuild my own.

Not trying to persuade you otherwise, but paddocks do list the ZF OEM one - ANR2157G - £100, but not horrific for a ZF part - you could probably find the ZF part number and possibly a ZF agent near you ?? maybe.

Opinions please chaps !

Steering was fine. Clutch needed serious bleeding which has been done, pedal now good. Backing up to drive away, Heard belt scream briefly, then no power steering.

Bled the system - wheels up, lock to lock. Lots of air coming out, fairly sure system now clear. Test drive, no steering. Power steering belt off, turned pump and you can hear it turning, all notchy. @flat reckons it's the pump (as above), but suggested asking here to see what others think.

Pump ? (before I buy a new one ?). After opinions !

My gut says the pump but happy to hear others opinions.

It’s the fact it worked for a few minutes then stopped dead that made me think sudden pump failure

+1 on the Pump - has no one local to you got one off a scrap D1? There's one here, but, er, I'm not sure you and I being local to each other is plausible!

That seems to be for a 300, is it compatible with 200?

Oops  sorry, my mistake - you're right that is for a 300:( Sorry @Mr S1 misread your OP.

If it's a good one I don't mind covering costs and you get suitably recompensed ?

Well, if the state of the disco is anything to go by, I'd suggest it won't be in the best condition - but fine as a test item - just so we knew it was the pump and not the box - in any event it's the wrong one :(
