Bit of advice please. Just removed my rear (for D90 300 Tdi) brake hub and disc to clean up and renovate then replace bearings and seals. Have removed the 5 bi-hex bolts holding the disc to the hub but can't get the 2 items apart. The other side worked easily. Tried some "gentle" tapping, big hammer, crow bar, swearing, knuckle grazing, etc but they are still solidly held together. Any ideas on how to part the 2?

normally i place it disc down on the floor lift one edge up by the hub and whack disc down then same on opposite side but if you want to refit disc it wont help you, you could support the disc between to wooden blocks etc and place a block over the hub center and whack that down

Hit the bit you don't want to keep! It's easy to 'bruise' the hub with the hammer, so if you're keeping that, hit the disc. It needs a few fairly decisive blows with a reasonably big hammer. A lump hammer works best. Those little claw or ball pein hammers don't quite have the momentum. Discs tend to be quite a tight fit on the hubs so need some persuasion once the rust had got to work. I cleaned the mating faces of my hubs up with emery cloth and put grease on before fitting my new discs.

try the 2nd method in my post

Thanks again James, your second method worked in the end although I had to use heat as well.
