I'm rebuilding my 90 and when the time comes i will paint the bodywork but i'm wondering whats the best way of doing this without having to spend a fortune? i've heard of people using rollers to paint their landrovers and have said the finish is quite good? Also what paint does everyone reccommend using?

James

If your paint is in good condition but gone dull, 1st of all rub down with a medium scotchbrite and the a fine scotchbrite.
Wipe clean with white spirit and get ready to paint.
I use a 4inch short pile gloss roller and a 2 inch brush for the fiddly bits.
I use synthetic paint mixed up by my local car paint supplier.

All below done with a roller;

Just take your time and enjoy it.

wow they are some fantastic results with the roller! Was it any particular brand of paint used?? and how many coats of paint did you do to get that sort of finish?

Many thanks, James

I did mine with roller after a light sanding down..2 coats...got the paint on offer from Homebase..2 liters for a tenner, own brand metal paint :)

Thats a really good finish storm! what sort of roller did you use? and how durable is it, does it still have a good finish to it after a while?

James

Did it 5 months ago with a 6 inch foam type roller and a brush for the awkward bits...still looks good..i mixed the paint with 10% white spirit to make it easier to roll.

Took me 2 days as you need to let 1st coat dry...cost me less than £20 all in and i'm still pleased!! Used only just over half the paint so plenty left for another coat in a year or so if needs! Oxford Blue.

Paint brand is the paint shops own brand, all of the above had 1 coat only.
I have used b&q/homebase paints and have had good results, however, in my exp they take ages to dry, the stuff I get from the car paint shop seems to be thicker and is touch dry in about 2-4 hrs.
