shot blast and prime then spray them your choice of colour, some of that two pack piants that have a harder finish and less likely to chips or lift with the pressure washer.

I know they are silver - but black would work just as well.

i agree, shotblast is the only way to do them properly, then you know your primer has stuck to metal not flakey old paint!
I did some a couple of years ago, spent half the day sanding them down properly, primed and topcoated, the primer still peeled off the old paint underneath!
Do them properly and you only have to do them once!

A wire brush attachment on my angle grinder took the old paint off easily.
I then used Hammerite No1 Primer followed by Black Smooth Hammerite.

The silver top coat on mine was flaking off, but the original primer was fine.

If I were you, I'd just key theexisting paint well and slap the black on. It's a Land Rover after all, not a Roller.

yella is shotblasting my wellars for me :) Then they are being painted WHITE, cos that is the colour they are meant to be. Not a fan of black wheels meself.

Am going to try a heavy duty enamel paint, kinda like radiator paint, ill let you know in 6 months if its stuck ok!

its easy to make paint stick.......prepare the surface properly 1st...prime...degrease....then paint away....youll find it should stick to the landy longer than the overspray stays on the path/dog/fingers etc if you prepare it properly first

That looks a good job Tre. How long has it been done, I painted mine the orignal cream(white) over Christmass and the rust is aready starting to come through them. I sanded them back, primed and painted them but I didnt use hammerite though

They've only been done a couple of weeks.
We'll see how long they last.
