as im sure ya aware im in the process of getting me landy ready for painting..

i want an orange 2k paint..
tangiers orange or summit similar..i thought i found summit close to what i wanted on ebay, but ive sent them 4 emails and theyve answerd to none of them..

so does anyone know of a supplier of 2k paint that will post the paint aswell...

me bro inlaw is gonna paint it for me after ive prepped it,as he used to be a paint sprayer for pentons some time back

he reckons 1 flash coat, then 1st coat wait for it to tack and then apply another coat..

i was reckoning on about 7 litres of paint..is this enuff??

local paint shop should mix any colour-If you can't find in yellow pages, then bods at local motor factors should point you to someone.
7 litres-am I missing something, that's **** loads-rolls royce
Auto Air Colors recommend the following:-Small car you will need 2 litresMedium car you will need 2.5 litresLarge car
you will need 3 litres4x4 vehicle you will need 4 litresBear in mind, that is for every complete colour you are going to lay
down. for example...Base Coat Sealer, Aluminium Base Coat, Candy Apple Red Candy. You may even use a transparent
base if you are putting on effects between coats. Please note this excludes your "normal" primers and clear coat lacquers.

so by that guide of 4 litres for a 4x4..if i am putting on a flash coat, and then 2 top coats surely 7 litres aint far away?or am i reading it wrong?

green and blak is the way to go...get yerself 5 l matt olive ad a couple of matt black airarseholes plus a roller as spare heads .bobs yer uncle all sorted !

evening all... amount of paint will depend on are you painting inside doors under the bonnet etc etc and are you painting the roof orange, white or black. 7lts sounds alot i normally mix with thinners in which case you'd end up with feck loads but then you can always keep it for future touch ups.

doin roof/inner rear door inner front doors/under bonnet everywhere i can get to basically..

cant keep for touchups tho if i mix it bein 2k paint.will be thinned with 2k thinners aswell i fink about 10%

7 LITRES not so bad with under bonnet etc, but 5 should do outside of a range rover or similar

how many coats?

subjective, but thing to remember for every ltr of paint with thinners and activator your looking at about 1.4 to 1.5 ltrs so 7 ltrs= 10.5 mixed paint.

Long time ago I worked in a garage- but I think that your use 5 litres-but someone who does it every day will be better at judging it

You've gone at got me all serious about painting mine now! I was thinking about going down the Tangiers orange route but I've decided that a Satin Nato Green is the best option in my case. It looks good, it's durable and I wont really have to worry about scratching or scraping it either :) ......... I do like my yellow though :(

great minds think alike

Painted me 90 last weekend Mat Drab Olive Green

I asked the supplier about thinning it with thinners..... they said not to thin it more than 5%

When i opened the tin it looked thin enough to me so i left it neat, I used a roller and looks bloody brilliant! Cant see any roller marks or owt.

I started off with 2.5l and still got about a litre left

I painted everything i could see (roof, inside doors, under bonnet etc) one coat

Hope this helps, Scott
