P38 wheel nuts torque

Replaced wheels when doing discs and torqued all wheel nuts to specified 110 Nm. After about 100 km the car started to shake slightly, i expected another drivetrain issue discovered but found out left front wheel nuts were on the point of falling off the thread end. Retightened the nuts on all wheels to cca 160 Nm and now it seems fine, eg. no more nuts on the loose :D

What is the correct torque value for road wheel nuts? The workshop manual specified 109 Nm is obviously incorrect, or there is something seriously wrong with my wheel nuts/lugs... :doh:

Depends how you did it, wheels nuts must be nipped up before car is lowered to floor. Then torqued up. Spec is 109 nm or 80 lb ft.
 
I did it exacty as you said. Tightened everything gradually in a star-like pattern, first on the lift, then lowered to ground and rechecked.
Now i remember, i didn't clean the threads of the lugs, but AFAIK they should be lubed a little with copper grease, don't they?

I always put a little copper grease on wheel studs. But one thing to remember is that unlike angle tightening the addition of lubricant to a bolt/nut being torqued will make the bolt/nut tighter than if it was fitted dry.
