Hi guys, thanks for help with overheat issue. Now I'm committed to taking engine out. According to Rave, it's engine and box out together or nothing. Surely the motor will come out on its own? Or am I too naive to understand the twisted minds of the P38 design time?
Thanks in anticipation.

of course it will hardest part is exhaust manifolds ,i allways strip top off engine inlet manifold and heads then everything else is easy then rebuild the new when fitted

What he is saying is Yes, it will come out separately.
Basically, remove the torque convertor to drive plate (Flywheel) bolts from underneath and the bell housing bolts. As said, the exhaust manifold heatshield bolts are a pain, especially the drivers side but the rest is pretty straightforward.
RAVE is a must have though.

you need to support the gearbox if your leaving it in the car, remove steering shaft from steering box for better access to the manifold bolts at the bulk head end, remove the rad for better clearance to lift engine out,you can leave the heads on but strip everything else off,the bellhousing bolts behind the heads are a bastard to get to tho and dont forget to brace the torque converter onto the gearbox to stop it coming off when the engine has been removed.
have fun
