I want to take out the drivers seat from my MY2001 P38. It obviously has an airbag in the seat. Does anyone know what you need to do before disconnecting this.

I have two jobs that I need the seat out for 1) frame repair for one of the seat motor mounting brackets, and 2) Heated seat element replace so it really does need to come out.

Any ideas? Is it that the battery should be disconnected for about 30 mins and then discounnect the SRS under the seat? What happens to the BeCM in this time? Should the battery be reconnected whilst the seat is out or left disconnected due to the SRS being disconnected for the seat?

kind regards
Mark

First thing to do is motor seat forwards and remove rear bolts. Then motor it back, disconnect both battery leads, negative lead first. Then wait 30 mins. Take out front bolts and unplug seat. Have your EKA code in case it is required on reconnection of battery.

ok, looked through my docs I have found an EKA code, understand how to use it from the manual - clever these rangeys eh!.

What about reconnecting the battery with the seat out and therefore not connected to the SRS connection - is that an issue for the SRS - it would keep the BeCM etc live obviously.

Yeah but there would be things not connected to it that it may think should be. Don't give it a chance to have a fit, they are quite capable of doing that without any help.
