There are good and bad ones I think - you just have to be lucky - and I think its very dependant on how well they have previously been looked after /serviced etc..

Probably an ex demo in its day or something.Mine has more than standard dse spec like ice controls on steering wheel heated seats etc.
I hope so as I dont like tricked up stuff, will this have the four wheel traction control though? How can you tell? It has been very well looked after with all the expensive extras like mudflaps and branded floor and boot mats, I very happy and proud to own it, people cant believe how much I paid, someone thought it was worth about 5 grand:jaw::jaw:

Have had a June 2002 TD6 HSe with all the Vogue upgrades (except satnav) for over 2 years now.

bought it sight unseen and undriven. 5 owners and no FSH at all. Driven over 20,000 miles+. Only drama was having to change the air suspension pump (£150 second-hand). Travelled flawlessly to Europe 4 times (1500-2000 miles each time) and got 28 MPG. Never failed to start. Nothing has gone wrong.

bought another set of wheels for winter tyres (£150) and had an oil change thus far. It's the best and most enjoyable car I have ever had.

Just got to be lucky I guess!?

Yay ! Told ya so !
There are goodens out there lol

only issue with mine has been gearbox, i would not go back to a p38 now i have a l322 its a thing you only notice when you actually own a l322.

Only thing is a gearbox? That's a big thing to most buyers of modern cars, a thing most people would consider scraping the car for. If you look through the list of topics on this forum or any other concerning Land Rover they are mostly problems owners are having. If you go onto a forum for reliable cars like Subaru it's all about running and driving the car. Clearly it's not just the old L322 that has all the problems, the whole Land Rover model range has more then it's fair share of problems. Lets hope the new 2012 one is better.

so surely once the gearbox gets changed the cars good for another 70K+ miles

i still think my 9 year old L322 is doing great for its age

It doesnt look its age at all - when i ask someone how old you think it is they all say around 2005 / 3 years old.

with the facelift extras you would think its a 2008 :p

just without the 2008 cost lol

I've owned a Disco 3 (for 3 years), a RR Sport (very briefly), a P38 (5 years and still got) and 2 Classics (1 year and the LSE for nearly a year and still going strong) The Disco and Sport were both better vehicles simply because they were newer and the P38 is more refined than the Classics.

Nobody gave the Disco, Sport or P38 a second glance. But whether its europe or the uk, in a Classic people come up to you asking for a closer look, some even ask if they can go for a spin!!

And in the reliability stakes, the Disco, Sport and P38 have all been on the back of recovery trucks. Where as the Classics have been the 2 most reliable motors I have ever owned, they have never let me down.

Just my opinion on why the Classics are not technically up to the newer models, but for overall enjoyable vehicle ownership, they leave the other 3 miles behind.

Has anyone EVER seen a Range Rover with more than 200,000 miles? I've had three Subaru's with between 200,000 & 270,000 miles all without an engine or gearbox rebuild.

my other range rover a 1997 (lpg)p38 4.6 hse is on 197,000 and still going strong infact i would go anywhere in it.i purchased it for my wife a few years ago and it is maintained regardless, ive always inspected and fixed it before it actually broke.bad maintenance and people with lack of funds is why these fantastic machines usually fail.

Iv seen a couple of L322's on eBay with 200k miles

Mines on 140k now !

For modern cars 100k miles is nothing ! Depends if it's been on a motorway all of it's life ?
