Hi all

I have what seems to be age old problem of a lock out on my p38. My battery has been dying for some time (its 1999) and were not sure if its ever been changed so thought that we would start there. We had to break in via the bonnet put a jump on the battery to get into the car. New battery on and all appeared well until the new battery died this week! We broke in via the bonnet again and charged the battery but when we put it back this time the car refused to open.

We have tried the EKA inc the default 1515
Tried turning the key while holding the open button to the left and right.
Tried disconnecting the battery for a while.

I have seen on here that Mozz Smith might have a solution which he was going to put on the "how to" but I cant seem to find it.

Any help would be very much appreciated as I don't fancy putting a brick through the window!

Thanks

Paula

Sounds like the Lock Microswitch is duff....

This is what tells the BeCM to unlock the other doors, and also it is what transmits the EKA Code to the BeCM....

Was the vehicle Superlocked before the battery went south ?

yes it was.

does this mean major trouble now in getting in?
Fraid so...

Even if you break in, you can't lift the sill buttons to unlock the doors - superlocking prevents this as a security measure...

My knowledge of what to do stops there really, what can be done is if you can get in through a window or similar, it *may* be possible to find the door lock microswitch wires to the BeCM (As you won't be able to get into the door card!) and using these, emulate the microswitch by grounding the appropriate wire in order to unlock the door or even send the EKA code....but that is purely theory!

thanks for your help and advice. I will chat with the other half, it seems that we have no real option but to break some glass
:(

Try the tailgate. I superlocked mine just before change the battery. First day of ownership. I was totally locked out for hours phoning round for help. Then my 7 yo daughter pressed the tailgate button and it fired in to life. I might have had a fault on the tailgate or something, but I'd tried EKA codes and nothing registered on the drivers door. Worth a shot...

You don't need to hold the OPEN button whilst entering the code! try again without doing that.

1515 was a generic code that was SUPPOSED to work on North American spec cars. I've never known it work over here. Using this is possibly what has caused your car to think that it's under attack and go into super lock. So you need to get your EKA code.

Whilst MOZZ (the lock-out Guru) has not been on here for a while there are a few who have benefited from his advice, and a written procedure, who might be along to help.

Meanwhile you might try disconnecting the battery for an hour or so then having someone hold the tailgate button in as the battery is re-connected.

Are you sure that 1515 is you're actual EKA code????? where did you get that from? 1515 Sounds like a Jap inport or NAS car (American) is yours some sort of inport?
If a UK car do you have the correct EKA code available?

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the advise and suggestions.

I have tried the cars correct EKA code and tried the 1515 in desperation as I had seen it recommended by others.

I have tried the tailgate option also TNA
and disconnecting the battery for some time

So secure that if there is a problem, you are fecked, as and when i need to have a door card off, I will be disabling superlock.

It's still possible :p
I think when i had my lockout issue last year i was battling superlock. (blooming nightmare i should note haha)

Update....
well we have had to break the window.

on the plus side we have the drivers door unlocked but the big downer is the central locking still locked & when we re-connect the battery the alarm goes off

God I am fed up with the damn thing now but when she is going I bloody love the car!! ahhhhhh
