Get rid. HIDs on non projector headlights are a menace to society. They blind oncoming motorists and, in my opinion, should be banned unless in correct projector lenses.
Its illigal without proper dcr marked lights that are projectors cleaning system and self leveling rear suspension. Any way they are not as good to see with as made out and especially in a h4 set up. Patterns off dazzle too much light too close and short to the road. Strain your eyes dazzle everyone coming towards you they're brighter in the wrong places. i tried hid h4 bulbs in my t4 van tried them in the rangie and nope set up is still all wrong so best set up for a h4 bulb is a normal 55/60w h4 bulbs

I have them in the Saab and they're great because they are in the proper lenses - the system was designed for HID. Standard lenses with them are awful. No light throw at all in pitch black and it bleeds out all over the place blinding drivers.

I understand your point but it doesn't give me an answer. What is the add on unit you can but if you can't find a fault.

Thanks folks. Going to a local breakers tomorrow and the first thing on the list is the headlamp wiring looms. Osram Nightbreakers it is.

many ta,s wammers ive just ordered some from your link.ive always been curious to see if they live up to the hype.i agree also about the use of hid bulbs in a housing not built for them,a bl++dy nightmare,i tried some aftermarket hid's on a merc sprinter once, just an explosion of non focused light.they were removed rapidly and junked.

I've got Nightbreakers in mine.

Certainly better than the normal bulbs, but still not as good as my 5 series with factory fitted HID's, so it depends on what you are comparing them with.

Had a bulb go on mine, so fitted a full set of them. Ok up to now, no problems, better than standard bulbs by some distance, or at least appear to be, not really used them yet on a dark country road. But they certainly light my drive up better than the old ones did.

I spoke to a customer of mine today who has just been in for his MOT Examiners refresher course and after market HID kits HAVE to be fitted with wash wipe and automatic self correcting height adjusters. If they are not to spec it's an MOT fail. I have ordered replacement bulbs anyway.

Id have thought they also need to be projector type lenses
As reflector lenses cause the light from HID's to glare all over the place

MOT won't stop it as you can just stick in your old halogens for the test and revert to the HID after

They are now checked at roadside stops ;)
