Does anyone else have to wrestle with their front doors to open them from the outside?
Mine are a right pain and they also stick out a bit when you let go of them so have to push them in a bit, I`m curious to know if its just adjusting they need or new handles.
I would like them to open like my back doors, no effort at all and not sounding like they want to break.

hi rangiep38,

Sorry but good to know others do he same.

Have a read of this :-

and then ignore most of it !
All you have to do is undo the torx head bolt holding the handle on and then wriggle the door handle outwards until you can see the offending lug that needs cut off - you can move it out far enough to get a pair of pliers on to it and just gently twist it sideways and it will snap off dead easy
Just make sure that the pin the mechanism hinges on is in place to begin with or removing the lug will not work - if this is the case then you will have to replace the pin too

Did my passenger front door yesterday - took nearly 3 mins start to finish and works a treat now ! :)

my door handles stick out and need to be pushed back in manually. they havn't started sticking yet (fingers crossed)

I filled the worn cup with copper grease and it sorted mine out although TBH they weren't sticking that much - you can buy the plastic pivot thingy from main dealers for peanuts, I would go down this route for a permanent fix

cheers, i'll have a go at it next weekend. it sounds as though the easiest way to fix it is just to loosen the handle enough to snap off the lug with pliers. and further dismantling on the handle sounds more complicated

That sounds easy enough, although it does seem that even after the fix it wont as good as new so me thinks new door handles will be in order sometime, after all they dont cost a great deal.

The excellent post that V8 Kenny linked to talks about buying the cam on its own; well after going through all of this myself (sticking handle, open door interior, snap cam lug on back of lock - hop, curse, then find this post :doh: ) I can confirm that the parts are available from Main Dealers;

STC 3064 - P38 Door lock cam kit RHF
STC 3063 - P38 Door lock cam kit LHF

Each kit costs £2.29, and consists of the plastic cam, pivot pin, and a new spring.

I ordered mine and collected the following day, the parts sorted the handles out perfectly once I have removed the metal post identified in V8 Kenny's link.
