So, tomorrow I travel up the M1 to meet the person with the 'complete' replacement door for our L322..I am hoping the job isn't going to be TOO stressful but am not holding my breath. Apart from the fact that the door itself weighs a fair bit, the major issue i envisage is the electrical hook up. The door apparently has the correct loom, but I will only really find out once we plug it all up....anyone else done a L322 front door 'transplant'? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers for now!

Thanks for that, i had looked for a youtube L322 video but couldn't find one, the beemer one looks almost exactly the same, I hope our wiring loom is as compliant!

It is amazing how much of the early L322 and BMW x5 and 7 series are similar, the Beemer parts are usually half the price as well!
I've heard it said often re. prices, and I believe the hellectrics were pretty much lifted directly from the 7 series, certainly pre-05 models.

Anyway, you may need a trolley jack to aid refitting if it weighs a ton, suitably padded of course and an assistant would be a bonus anol.

I am finally picking up the replacement door on wednesday...will take pics to upload, I know swapping the doors will have inherrent difficulties so I am prepared for the worst!
