Hi Lads.

Quick one. insurance is up next month and called AXA to check what my new policy will be. last year my insurance was €600 ish (i know the UK lads will laugh at this but this is Ireland and everything casts loads more!!) this year im 28 years old, 5 years no claims. full clean licence no points and living in Kerry. turns out my policy jumped up to €800 for no reason. when i asked why they told me "insurance is going up" by 30%!!! and i even have an extra no claims bonus this year. im baffled,

question who are you insured with i Ireland and what are you paying?

AXA in France are way too expensive, my renewal was €680, got it for €405 from MMA all risk europe wide cover and covers towing as well. Use the internet, even in Ireland there must be on line quotes available.

Ok, got off the phone with AXA my local branch this time and it turns out that when my car was off the road I did a full change over to a different p38 and when it was changed back someone put it in the wrong category of vehicle. Long story short my new renewal quote €512 fully comp with all the extra cover and breakdown support.

So panic over!! Phew!!!

I still reckon you would get a better price elswhere, mine also includes Europe wide breakdown and recovery. AXA are renowned for their high prices in France.

Don't know about Ireland but over here in England we have a big problem in certain parts because of scams being run by Asians. Four or five people in a car (allegedly) staging crashes and making personal injury claims. It is apparently running into billions a year. It's not the cost of car repairs but the whiplash Etc claims. In certain post code areas of a lot of northern towns and cities most of the major insurers will not touch a new client. And premiums for existing clients are going through the roof. All because these scheming bastards are allowed to get away with murder and no one is allowed to say anything. It's about time these thieving cheating drug dealing scumbags were shipped back to their bloody fleapit of a country.

all the other prices i got were between €700 and €900 with less cover. log on to an irish website and do a quote and set your face to stun!.

wow didnt hear of that going on over here, sounds a bit crazy though.

I had a multi-car policy with Admiral for me and her. This year's renewal quote was just over £1200.

I went online to Diamond (same company as Admiral) and they beat Admiral's quote.
I went online to Elephant (same company as Admiral) and they beat Diamond's quote.
I went online to Bell (still the same company) and they beat Elephant's quote.

Then I phoned up Admiral and they offered to beat Bell's price.

I've got a multi-car policy with Admiral for me and her, with all the bells and whistles, and this year it's less than £700.

Total madness, but I almost enjoyed myself.

Yep I did that before with a transit when I was 23. Quotes started at €3200 finished up at €1200 with all the bells and whistles.

Same happened today did a load of quotes on line last night and thy all rang me back this morning fighting for business. Told them all best price I could get was €450 and told them to beat it. None of them could axa turned out to be the best €512 with everything included. I'm a happy boy price down €100 since last year. When you consider my 1 st insurance at the age of 17 on my Honda civic here in ireland was £5200 irish pounds !! Third party fire and theft!!!! I know feel humbled!!! Lol

Middle Lad aged 19 been driving a year. Named driver on the Mrs policy over 10 years no claims. Nissan Micra worth £700 renewel has just come through, they want £3900 with a £500 excess:eek: Shopped around got it for £1800. Still a **** take but better than £3900. And they wonder why so many poeple drive around with no insurance.

Post codes ok coz we only pay £230 for the Classic and £280 for the P38.

It definately pays to shop around i have a 3 car multicar with admiral and when it came up last year i ran all 3 cars thru a price comparison site and each time admiral came up cheapest but the funny thing was all 3 added together came in cheaper than the multicar quote so i rang them up and they matched the cheaper quotes.
Later that year i got a quote from them again to add my daughters car to the multicar and it again came back dearer than insuring it seperately. Seems that they will pretty much match any other quote you can find.

hi

I was considering changing to a 2004 L322 HSE and called a few company's 123 where the cheapest for me and the misses fully comp with both of us with 5 years no claim, 0 points, I am 32 she is 30 and fully comp was quoted at 600 all in. I thought that was reasonable.
Similar to you i can remember paying 3900 punts for my first policy for a 1992 318is when i was 20. when i look back i was crazy.
