Hi, anyone fitted a landrover dog guard.I have read on here it has something to do with the rear roof rail slides.I have now got the brackets that fit to the headlining somewhere and the guard slides into these i believe.
Cheers:D

If you look on top of the roof you will see 2 slide panels in the rails, depress these and I believe they slide fwd ? (not got mine here to check with atm) there you will find the fixing holes.

Cheers for that, that is exactly what i read from an earlier thread, but do you have to drill through the headlining to fit the holding bolts ?.

onyx,
i looked into this a while back. haven't got round to fitting the guard yet. when i look under the sliding covers in my roof, i don't see any holes?
best advice i got was to go and see one in a showroom, unfortunately i never got round to going - yet

If you look there should be 'dimples' under the slides showing where to drill for mount

'Terv', can see the dimples, do you have to cut the headlining ?
Cheers for being patient but dont want to have big holes if i dont need to !

Mine was fitted when I bought the car, no sign of it being cut but obviously when you drill be careful not to go through the headlining as it may catch in the drill and tear, after drilling make holes just large enough for the bolts in the headlining then when the brackets are fitted it will look as if they grew there :D

Terv, have seen your earlier thread with the photo of the internal bracket fitted to headlining. As you say they look as tho they grow out of the roof but holding them im my hand the bolt holes go about a further 12 mm above what you can see, so defo a bit of cutting i think. Also there are 4 dimples under the slide and they dont seem to match up with the sizes on the bracket ?. Any chance of a photo of the top slide and under the bracket ?
Cheers ONYX:D

I sold a dog guard on ebay and when I took out the plastic mounting things it left two rectangular holes in the headlining.

I could take a photo of the hole showing it's size and position if you want :)

MUDFLAP,
Would be a great help and do you know anything about these 'rivnuts'
i read about .
Cheers :D ONYX

Please excuse the discoloured pillar. My flocking is wearing thin :(

This is a closeup from the same angle. Are these the "rivnuts"?

Since taking the dog guard out I had never really looked into the hole :)

To anyone who wants to fit a factory dog guard to a P38,its easy !!.Thanks to 'MUDFLAPS' pictures i did mine today in 20mins.Dont look under the outside roof rail flaps and dont drill any holes from the outside !.
Cut the headlining with a sharp stanley knife as shown in the photos and you will see the 2 pre drilled holes each side. You then need a rivnut tool to fasten the rivnuts into the holes ( mine were 8mm ). Screw the bolts through the brackets and hey presto job done !!
ps. I brought a hand rivnut tool complete with nuts for £23 off ebay !
