I have just got a range rover to look at that would not go.Some one change the diesel injector pump without using the special tool ,i have removed the front cover and the timing chain only has 11 links between the crankshaft sprocket dot and the diesel pump sprocket dot .

Looking at auto data it says the p38 diesel should have 13 links between the dots.

Looking at rave it says it should be 12 links?

I have looked at auto date for the omega engine and this says also 13 links !

Can someone that has done this procedure please give me the correct setting ........Cheers

The chain has two bright links in it. They should be aligned with marks on sprockets with engine at TDC number one.
