Hi All,
Still having trouble trying to time this engine.....I have the correct manual for this engine but for some reason I cannot complete the sequence...I set the pump wheel with the dot on the arrow...I set the camshaft wheel with the dot on its arrow....when I try to rotate the crankshaft to try to line up it dot the crank stops - I assume the piston is being stopped by the valve being open?
I have tried setting crankshaft first but still can't line up all 3 dots!
Just for info neither the camshaft or crankshaft have been removed.

Any ideas welcomed.

You will be confusing everybody as I think this is now three threads on the same subject.

Have you took the rocker cover off and checked to see if all the valves are actually closed when they should be?

You could always pop the rocker shaft off, time the engine and fit the belt, then refit the rocker shaft, rocker shaft off means all valves are closed.

Yes sorry for the triple threads on the same subject but it's getting very long and most replies don't solve the problem!!

I can either try going back to removing the head and then checking all the valve and pushrod- though I have only been cranking buy hand and not forcing anything.

It would be quicker to remove the rocker and as you say time all three sections and refit the rocker assembly.
I will give it a go.
Thanks.

Have you read this one
