Get a grip. The majority of your assumptions are well wide of the mark. Also, post in the range rover section. Take a chill pill too, I think you have anger issues.

If you get this annoyed at being asked to use paragraphs then you will have a stroke at some of the things that you're going to read and see on this forum.

I didn't know Fanatic could barn-dance though, thought he was more of a lap-dance kind of guy.

Thanks for the advice forum but even though I know very little of the P38 I think its had an unfair bashing, from what people have said here and various other sources the P38 must be the most unreliable vehicle in the world, anyway, tonight armed with what little I've learned I purchased a metallic grey P38 1999 2.5 DSE,130,000 miles with spring conversion for £2700,it has only 3 months m.o.t and is from Northern Ireland,I checked that everything works which took some time and all was well apart from the aircon does not blow cold(hopefully just needs a recharge),the lcd display for the heater controls do not illuminate(I'm told it's just a bulb) and the stereo is apparently not working due to a code issue, overall the interior is good and the exterior is very good with no rust or knocks.I looked underneath and everything was clearly dry,the engine bay was tidy and represented lower mileage but I was warned about a start issue regarding starting it with the right amount of throttle when turning the key,if started without a little throttle it takes longer to fire up,I'm not too worried about that as I have a friend who's a BMW specialist so I'm hoping he can diagnose the problem.on the test drive I was amazed at the acceleration as it really moves,it is certainly at least chipped,I drive a 280 bhp Audi and that does take off so I'm used to power.on the test drive the gearbox did exactly as it should and as it was told with kick down and so on,the general drive was solid with no knocks or noises though the front end seems really boaty.last week I test drove two 2002 crd cherokees and none of them felt as nice as this,in fact far worse.after driving it home 35 miles the fuel gauge didn't seem to move.I know for sure tomorrow when I get stuck into it I'm going find more little niggles and I wouldn't be surprised if an expensive repair is hiding in there somewhere as I know I got a good price on seemingly rogue reputation vehicle,it's a real good looking vehicle and the guy was shocked when I told him what I wanted it for as clearly it's never been off road, anyway, hope I'm not back here tomorrow requesting info on anything too major with egg on my face.

I hope there's nothing too major wrong with it and good luck with the car.

It does sound like it has a few niggles, does the hearing system still work ok?, just not the air conditioning?, I would be worried about it being something to do with the hevac.

Lastly the nature of the forum goes on a bit of banter and **** taking, it's light hearted for the most part, I wouldn't take anything to heart it's only the Internet.

Priceless, from now on i'm just gonna view all of Fanatic and Storm's posts on this forum.
Was annoyed i'd knackered my track rod however now i can't stop giggling at their posts!

Chris.

Fanatic - you git - I scrolled down to your post with the 'arty' photo in it just as my Boss walked past - I've just had to explain why I'm looking at P0rn on a work pc in work time.... Cheers Dude!
Tell him a picture is worth a 1000 Words
Brasser - please consider using paragraphs and possibly think before you post. Most people on here (including Fanatic and Storm him a picture ) are incredibly helpful and will bend over backwards to assist if they can - getting lairy isn't going to help and I guarantee with a P38 you are going to need help - lots of it....

I wouldn't have bought a P38 purely for offroading - far too much to go wrong (although having a coil converted one is I suppose one less thing to go wrong) - but it is your choice!

Opps:doh:

The Hevac or heater control box as I know seems to work fine only I can't see what's happening on the display,I get variable air flow hot and coolish so it seems ok unless the illumination of the display cannot be restored,as I'm aware this unit to replace is about £150(used).I'm prepared to spend £800 putting it right though I won't know until after the m.o.t it will get later this week if anything more is wrong.I'm told by my mechanic that the alloys I'll be removing may be worth some money as there original overfinch.it's currently with a BMW specialist who does all of my work and he said the cold start problem is easy to find, other than that I'm sure the engine and box are sound as I hammered it this afternoon in psychotic rage imagining I had Fanatic and Storm99 hog tied in the back on route to a landfill :)) toss bags :croc:

i'm feelin left out ere !

better upset city boy...or it is citi boi.....or rude boy ?

nobber

I think that you lot just don't like the fact that I'm a P38 fan, laughable :) it makes me laugh to think you could be green laning then all of a sudden be out of your vehicle having a scrap because someone don't like your vehicle choice,of course I doubt it would happen but funny all the same.reminds me of my BMW days, most drivers dislike you but at least the beemer drivers stick together united by prejudice and the appreciation of advanced modern engineering, everyone else can go stick a red hot fag lighter up their aris, thats if they've got one :D

point taken with regards to paragraphs though I do think before I post,I don't think any of my questions where vague and if so then that's because I don't know much about 4x4's,if you mean think about the abuse I send then I do,I'm not having people abuse me freely in any instance,I love the banter and can take a joke but on a level field.the last thing I want to do is give abuse to somebody as I know it makes me look a bit of a tit and I'm seriously only here to get advice as selfish as that may sound to certain users,"please use paragraphs I can't be arsed to read what you typed"that seemed like it was said so casually that I knew this guy has little respect and obviously thinks he's something he's not,in short I was offended and shocked I could get that kind of response from the new users thread.anyway, thanks for your reply and in future threads I'll use paragraphs, just wouldn't seem right if I started using them here and now :) cheers.

"please use paragraphs I can't be arsed to read what you typed"that seemed like it was said so casually that I knew this guy has little respect and obviously thinks he's something he's not.
But if you choose to pick on him =death by 1000 cuts

See it's easy,

I was going to break this down into paragraphs for you, but if you can't be arsed, then neither can I! :p

Not wishing to stir up any kind of hornet's nest (aw who am I trying to kid!) - but you admit in the post above that you don't know much about 4x4s (in which case a P38 wasn't a great choice if you want to get into the muddy stuff (hell, some would say its not that great a choice if you want to leave it parked outside the house!)) but you asked for advice, then chose to ignore it - fair enough..... But when you got a frankly mild bit of banter (just wait till you've been around a while!) you kicked off - and stated you only liked banter on a level playing field... Well, sorry to **** on your parade, but if you know chuff all about 4x4s, bought a P38 as an off road toy and got a tad lairy, you deserved a flaming....!

As a final note, a fair few of us have P38s - some are pavement princesses, some get the occasional muddy field as a playground and some of us get them dirty whenever they can - but then there are a lot of people on here that dislike the P38 with a vengeance - the only things they all have in common is a love for LandRover and a desire to help (or rip the ****!)

So, put your Body Armour on and give as good as you get!

End of sermon - I'm off to crawl back into my bottle of bourbon!

Fugg it, I did paragraphs...!

**** stain just pm'd me.
Love it, the pussy won't turn up and should he turn up-we can see what's what
