Hi all need help. I have a p38 2.5 diesel automatic. the transfer box chain jumps on acceleration its been like it for the last couple of months ive been driving it but i have a spare unit to replace it with which i can deal with no probs once the weather breaks.
But i now have another problem which i cant get my head round, the auto select wont work in drive unless i put it in 1st to pull away then select drive then it works fine until i have to slow right down for a junction or stop then i have to select 1st again and then drive. My local dealer tells me the auto box needs replacing but he never even inspected the vehicle and he quoted a large labour cost if i supply a second hand unit which again arent cheap.
Has anyone any ideas or experienced the same before i commit to the dealer. Has the failing transfer box caused my auto box to fail?
