P38 2.5d - Air Inlet Intake Manifold Hose

Hi, hoping someone out there can help.

I have a 2001 P38 2.5d "wessie".
Was under the bonnet today and noticed that the braided hose coming from the air inlet intake manifold was not connected to anything. Trouble is I can't see where the braided pipe should be connected to.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

To the map sensor on the fuel filter.

And you'll need a new one that's way too short. 3.2mm id leak off pipe will do the job. Gates stuff is best, same stuff used on the injector leak off pipes.

And then notice the MASSIVE difference in power.

That depends on the age of the car, on late ones it make no detectable difference as long as the sensor is electrically OK.
OP, check the manifold spigot is not blocked.

Ether the pipe has snapped or it been attached to a T piece going to a power box ...possible ..

I agree with the power issue. My mates 2001 pipe was rotted to dust when he got it, replacement made zero difference.

Mine's a 2000 and refitting the pipe made me think I had a different engine in it.

Probably depends on the EDC firmware level, makes no difference on on either of mine.

Later cars had MAF fitted so it knows how much air there is from that. Early cars had to work it out from pressure and temperature. Later cars don't use the inlet air temperature either, hence the weird negative value from the Nanocom. You'll notice it if the MAF starts acting up though.

Is that not the one that shows as something like minus 40 centigrade on the Nanocom?

That's the default value for the missing manifold IAT that is replaced by the sensor in the MAF.
