0k sorry I'm a bit disklecsic it is 1.00mm +/-.03 mm and less you risk comming into contact with the lug due to minor runout

Happy now no changes
But it will still operate at 2mm and is a safer option to no make contact with the tip that's why I like the safest option as I don't want the op to destruct his cps you can always add but you can't take away.

I suffer from a form of dyslexia - Pre-Natal Antiretrograde Amnesia.....

Dyslexia is not just about reading writing and numbers, but it is classed as any specific learning difficulty.....

When I was born I was wrapped in the cord and I suffered damage to the hippocampus part of the brain that converts short term to long term memory - I forget everything unless it is a repetitive task, like speaking, walking, driving etc....I even have to have a note in my car with my home address on it, I live my life with a note book, I use a Dictaphone to give me verbal reminders....my life can be very difficult at times as I remember nothing.....

BUT I have never used it as an excuse, I worked very very hard and earned my Masters Degree in Aeronautical and Aerospace Design Engineering....I put control measures in place to help....I worked my issues and I have never ever ever used them as an excuse for anything.

I have sympathy for those who are affected by their form of Dyslexia, but little for those who use it as an excuse. Sorry, just they I approach life !!!

My family never had a pot to **** in ir a window to throw it out of either, i worked to pay for my own education as my parents had little and struggled to put food on the table too.

As i said i have great sympathy for those who struggle as i had to aswell, i am just saying i have never used it as an excuse, everything i have i have fought hard and worked harder for!

In a way i am lucky compared to some but only because i have worked and fought for it all my life!

Sorry to have caused any upset within the forum. I have tried adjusting it in & out and I still can not get it to idle correctly. I think I might have to get it booked in somewhere which is annoying as I have done the big work with changing the gearbox. It has to be something to do with the cps sensor.

Sorry, but if the setting is 1mm +/-0.3mm it's unlikely to be reliable at 2mm. How many sytems have you designed using Hall effect devices?

Never said I was a designer if fact electrical it not top of my list are you the designer then ?

But I have fitted a few in my time without the need to use special tools and Had no problems of comebacks yet .
Its common sense years of fitting fixing motors prevails more than anyone with some certificate .

That has no experience apart from theories diagrams and lectures .

I've designed and manufactured a lot of electronic kit, I have also built and/or raced cars and motorbikes most of my life, I don't have a single certificate and I'm proud of that fact, certificate are not necessary to reach a high level of competance.
No private education, poor as a church mouse East End lad made good.:)
If you cannot be bothered to get your information correct, it's better you do not post. I'm not an administrator or I'd ban you for repeatedly giving out duff info.

O come datatek we are not perfect even you can make mistakes like a bleed screw being a backlash adjuster .

That's what's good about this site everybody's gets to give an opinion its up to the op to interoperate what's good and not you usulay find some will point out mistakes

The difference is, I did not say it was the backlash adjuster, only that I thought it migh be. You made a statement claiming it was fact and took ages to admit you were wrong, in fact you never did admit, just blamed it on dyslexia.

where do we stop this we could go on and on

I seem to remember you saying my halfruads battery hasn't wont have enough power yet its been fine been through winter and still going strong but would you admit defeated no you your over priced hard to exchange battery .
And now your even getting some feed back over your fan mod that I still say is risky they fit a viscous for a reason and now it seems your getting some Discerning feedback did you back down no

Your a hypocrite :)

The only negative feedback on the fan mod is from someone who has not fitted it, indeed he does not know what the mod involves, of the 20 plus who have fitted there has been no negative feedback.
As for the battery, good if your small battery does the job, I'm very happy for you. there have been quite a few reports of problems with halfrauds batteries and of course they don't operate in France. The battery I bought was the cheapest available to me and has proved good.

Not quite sure how that makes me a hypocrite, big word for a dyslexic.

That's the power if spell check although it often doesn't recognise what I type :)
Any way the reason I know it works years ago I had a BMW failed cps got a aftermarket one and was unsure remember we are talking 0.7 mm difference here .
I put a feeler gauge in between the cps and bracket because i was unsure of the air gap and the tip looked damaged . And low and behold it worked . We are talking about a magnetic pick up 1.mm +\- is the optimum range and As said any closer you risk run out needless to say a strong electro magnet 0.7mm a pin heads difference you think is not going to work have you experimented as I have:)
Maybe if ever you have a failed cps you can test my experiment and frown upon me until then ...

However if I had said 1mm minus 0.7 I might be in trouble but I'm not :D

Oh dear no, I've only designed stuff with Hall Effect devices, I've never gambled on playing with gaps and hoping it will work.
C'est la vie, I must use trial and error more often.

So you've got the tool huh ?
Like a say you can add but you can't take away :)
No harm done .

Right I went and bought a brand new crankshaft position sensor today fitted it with a 1mm gap using feeler gauge's. It starts fine but still revs up to 3000rpm & will not idle. Any help as I am now losing the will to live with it.

Try adjusting the top of the FIP as has been described until it idles at 750rpm.
