these are very nice looking vehicles, but the engines and electronics, suspension lets them down, how unreliable is the diesel engine?
what percentage of heads fail?should it be a recall?what engines fit in them.
oh and then there is the brake issue, potentially fatal, land rover do not except that this is a recall.
if you maintain the vehicle as it should be,will this help prevent possible failures,
ie regular oil changes, regular coolant changes,
and regular brake fluid changes

The diesel is more reliable than the petrol. However any sign of overheating should be sorted immediatly or you will end up with a cracked head. Water pumps and radiators seem to be the main cause of problems.
It's not the best or strongest diesel in the world but there have been posts of people clocking up 250K or thereabouts on the original engine with no problems. A lot of modern diesels with alloy heads suffer head failures from time to time.
It's a bit of a distorted view on Landyzone because it's only the people with problems that post.
With care and good maintenance, the engine, like the EAS, is no less reliable than any other marque.
