Overheating after fitting new Thermostat?

gary i know how you feeling i went the same way, it has been cocked up to sell, mine was the same. as i told you at the start. the only chance you have of getting a flow is irontite or a new engine. you can change the rad and water pump, you can stand on you hands and pray to who ever. but at the end of the day you have been worked over, and thats the bit that hurts. you can have it presure tested in the car with, but its more money. i am sorry if it sounds like i is having a go at you, i am not you will have to bite your lip and get done what needs doing. if you need help finding a good engine pm me, i will do all i can to help..j

Hi.. latest update.. hopefully good.. Just been out and reset my eas faults and then started the beast.. I HAVE FOUND A COOLANT LEAK! WOOHOO, never thought I'd be happy to say that...

Its landing just behind the rear of the engine, and the waters still cold and not under pressure as I'd just turned it on.. could it be leaking from the intake manifold gasket?

Please tell me this is good news lol.. and due to the leaking, is the reason I cant bleed the system of air hence the overheating?

Cure the leak and you will find out. Good luck.

You will find out that if you keep doing work trying it out overheating many times that you will spring leaks everywhere. Its the nature of the beast. If its been pressurised and you've done as much as you can then face the facts.
There is one definitive test to do. Cylinders 1,2,7,8 are next to waterways. Take out all the plugs and look at the colour. Dark brown stains on the pocelain and rust on the edge of the plug means water. If these are in 3,4,5,6 then its a cracked liner. If its in 1,2,7,8 then it may be head gasket or liner or both.
Just done my heads and the works regarding pipes o rings etc. They only go for a reason that higfh pressure.
When these babies overheat just change the lot because if it overheats again your back to square one scratching your head. Even replaced the vapouriser and all the water pipe work to it. Only 4 years old butr the pipes were as hard as nails and ready for the bin.

I'm guessing the HG blown at the rear, hence not showing up on the sniff test... Its going in next Friday to be looked at... fingers crossed!

Did you manage to get this problem sorted? I have symtoms are similar and I just can't seem to catch what is wrong.
