a friend of a friend just sent me an email asking about his mates freelander
he took it into a garage to have his Jatco oil replaced on his 2004 td4
I gave him a call as his mate is very upset
after chatting to him and got the low down and what they did was drained the oil out, then with the engine left off, pulled out the filler plug and filled it until oil came out of the filler plug
couldn't belive what i was hearing , because the guy on driving home said the gears started to jump into gear and got louder and louder
on arriving home he looked under the bonnet and seen oil all over the gearbox
by the sounds of it the seals have all blown, don't know how long u would have to drive it for in order this to happen and would have thought the filler plug would come out and blow an amount of oil out
just wished to share and will get the name of the garage that's in kent / essex border , so can at least give people the heads up in not going near it
amazes me in why oh why can't people leave things alone that they obviuosly don't know anything about them
feel really sorry for his mate, not sure if we got all the oil out , give it a power wash to clean all the oil off then redo it correctly whether or not we could save the box
he traveled nearly 20 miles home
was wondering can u buy seal kits for these boxes and do u need any specialist tools plse
would be great if we may be able to save it as I don't think he's going to get anywhere with the garage and if he took them to court in how many months that would take , whilst in the mean time be without a vehicle
if only these so called experts realised the damage and nightmare they cause on a daily basis to innocent motorists who put there trust in these scumbags
