Over Speed Buzzer

I have just bought a 2011 free lander SD4 HSE but cannot find a over set speed buzzer can anyone tell me if one is fitted to this model.

Sorry for the delay in answering, I traded a 1998 P38 Range Rover in for this Freelander, with that from the column stalk you could set a desired speed for when the buzzer would sound, when you drove through that speed the buzzer would go off, if you dropped your speed to below that level then the buzzer would sound again as you passed up through that speed again, does this make sense? The P38 was sluggish and not as responsive compared with the Freelander, so I want a bit of help to rein it in a bit and with not having an automatic before it takes a bit of getting used to when you shut off with no engine breaking it cruises on. I thought with having a Freelander that is twelve years younger it would have the device fitted I have just read through the sat nave set up thinking there may be something similar in there but I can’t find anything.
My first Landy was a new Discovery when they first came out I think 1990 H reg I kept it for eleven years, then I bought the P38 at five years old kept that for eleven years also never any problem with either and they were both worked hard.

Modern cars/vans have a setting in the dash menu options for a buzzer to sound when you go above a certain speed. I think this is what's the OP is after.

I used to have something similar in my Alfa - when you used this when you had winter tyres fitted it warned you when you are going too fast for them.

Just use your eyes and be more aware of your speed?

Should tell you in the Owners Handbook, if such a gizmo exists, Shirley

They have been around a long while and were fitted by LR my RR days, the RRc had it fitted in some markets but not the UK.

I think Shirley, a one post wonder, has gone to ground....

My old BMW 320i had something similar - set the Bong noise at 31mph and it went Bong when you crept up over the 30 speed limit...then the auto gearbox went Bong and I had to scrap it lol

In the 90,000 miles that I had my 2011 FL2, I never found one.

My Discovery 3 has an over speed warning. It's in the vehicle setup options after pressing the "i" button. It's adjustable in 5 Mph steps.

Good to hear your background there.

Wouldn't it be much more effective to just use your cruise control - the one on the Freelander 2 works brilliantly, especially combined with the auto 'box. The system that you've described should be redundant with cruise control.

The P38 I had was a BMW engine could it be a BMW thing

Fords have them too. That's how the D3 gets it I guess.

That is exactly what the P38 had,I found it handy in town you could keep your eye on what was happening instead of keep glancing at the speedo.

My overspend warning isn't always fitted but when it is is usually sits in the passenger seat. It's not so much a buzzing noise more a wineing noise!
