I've ordered some nuts/bolts and a fuel sender from a certain company with LR and a term that indicates selling direct to customers that indicated it had stock of the Land Rover part number, i.e. the bolts, having had a reasonable service from them before, however an email received from them states that 'there supply landcover part numbered items only to trade customers, indeed their terms and conditions state "3.4 The Company does not accept any order for any item supplied by Land Rover Ltd. or displaying the Land Rover brand except from a Trade Customer. Any purchaser who is not a Trade Customer is specifically excluded from purchasing Land Rover supplied or branded goods from The Company. Any customer who completes the website checkout process for an order containing Land Rover supplied or branded goods will be deemed to be a Trade Customer."
I have never seen this restriction before, certainly other suppliers do not make this distinction. I normally buy parts from the Lincoln based retailer as I cannot fault their service, though in this case they told me they could not get the bolts from Land Rover.
I do not think I will ever use this company again.

LRDirect is the trading name of Fourtrack Logistics Limited. They do supply both Consumer and Trade customers however (as far as I understand it) they can only supply 'parts or items supplied by Land Rover Limited' to declared Trade Customers.
This is a term likely stipulated by Land Rover Limited (rather than Fortrack) and is probably applied to all of Land Rovers trade customers.
IANAL but I can imagine that this could probably be defeated if in contention, but if it did start to go in that direction I imagine LR would simply pull the account.

@guzzi lemans did you get the bolts ?
What bolts were they (that you had to buy original parts) ?

Hi, no I did not, they have responded that the bolts are no longer available, yet were shown in stock on their website. I have been able to order LR branded parts from many other suppliers, and this term has never been expresses. I doubt if it was a stipulation from the manufacturer as otherwise an individual would not be able to purchase anything from a main dealer. If LR did stipulate this I doubt if it could be enforced as there is no legal structure that bans reselling. You can buy whatever you want and resell it, for example eBay.
I will just continue to buy from other vendors in the future, as I have been spending a large amount I just wanted to spread it around a bit. I'll stick with Rimmer Bros in the future.

Back to the original, it gets interesting as when Tata took control in 2008 they terminated (revoked) all independant distributor agreements and any current agreement seems to have the caveat "Distributors and Dealers are not agents of Jaguar Land Rover and have absolutely no authority to bind Jaguar Land Rover by any express or implied undertaking or representation."
This seems to apply to everything JLR/Tata sells ... cars, shirts, hats, spare parts .... anything that bears their Trade Mark.

<snip> If LR did stipulate this I doubt if it could be enforced as there is no legal structure that bans reselling. You can buy whatever you want and resell it, for example eBay.

As a private individual you might get away with that (for a short while) but as a business, no you can't.

No matter, have sourced alternative bolts from general fastener supplier, they are to connect the tow bar side fittings to the vertical support, 4 off.
Talking to a repair specialist yesterday, he has 2 RRS 2017 year in for repair that have a part failure that has no current manufacturer and used cannot be fitted, so the cars are basically scrap. JLR will have bigger concerns than someone selling an obsolete bolt they no longer manufacture (or buy in).

can i suggest if anyone is needing bolts and nuts to go the nearest Caterpillar Dealer.
When i was involved in our earthmoving division we bought all our bolts and nuts from Caterpillar, We used Cat, JCB, International, John Deere and others.
Unless changed Cat bolts and nuts have a lifetime guarantee against breakage.
Worth looking into.
