Orange ACE Light Troubles - Advice

Have just done a long drive, around 200 miles and nearly got to my destination when i went round a corner and the orange light came on. I though oh no ££££££! So stopped the car and turned it off not knowing what it was and checked manual. It said fault with ACE system but still ok to drive, but with reduced performance, so started car, but no light, everything seems normal. Threw it into a few corners and still no light, everything seems ok. Manual says go to Stealer, but is this necessary if light has gone out. Could it just be a one off fault. Anyone else had similar problems??

Had the same problem one month ago, after offroading on a shaki' road; no problems till now, no more orange light, and the system works with no problems(Disco 2 td5 '99). Keep cool! (No Stealer this time!)

I've also had this...twice! First time the symptoms were like yours, but seemed worse dependant on tyre pressures & side winds! Sometimes the light never came on (even after 100+ miles on a run), and sometimes it would come on a few miles after leaving home. My upper accelerometer was at the edge of it's tolerance. The upper accelerometer sits above the rear view mirror. The part was ~£40 and my local independant garage fitted it free whilst the car was in for a service...

The lower accelerometer is on the chassis somewhere I think.

Second failure was the pressure device, again a fairly cheap fix.

When the car's next in the garage, ask them to run a diagnostic and pinpoint the problem...

No need to rush (in my experience)...it's not critical...

ok, i read on the internet that the ACE system runs a system check after a warning light comes on, even after its been stopped and left etc. Apparently it takes 5 mins at speeds over 20mph, so if its ok after that, it might just have been a electrical fault. Im going to take the dog for a walk in a min, so will find out what happens, however i expect something is worn or buggered knowing my luck!!!
