Right, went and had a butchers on saturday with me mate and keeeeriste what a stunning motor it is.
Chassis sound just needs waxoil or something similar, needs one new tyre, one or two minor blemishes on paintwork one of which will easily T-cut out.

No bubbling paintwork except on rear passenger door window central pillar thingy.
All gadgets working
no damp footwells or around sun roofs,
No mayo on oil filler cap,
Engine as quiet as a mouse with no smoke on start up,
good handling and road holding ,

In other words a cracker at the price, and it looks as if He's having it.
Can't wait to ave a go.

just looked on the shardlow website & I see it's got 'SOLD' - so I presume your mate's had it. - looks like a great buy :) - just noticed its already got lightguards & spots as well - veerryy nice

yep - get it waxoyled - 1 large can from halfords did mine

also get him to remove the wheel nuts & put some copper grease on em - my offside rear set were stuck solid - managed to get em off in my garage with long bar & 2 of us on it - but would have been stuck if I'd needed to change it at the roadside

also the locking nuts on the disco wheels are well know for being very soft & easily wear so check them (loads of em on ebay if any are totally knackered)- basically just check he can get ALL the nuts off ALL the wheels - take em all off & put em back on with copper grease - takes 20 mins & saves loads of pain later if you get a flat.

also check the jack is supplied & fully working (located in the engine compartment - with the battery)

finally - dont forget to get him to join us on here for a bit of gentle **** takin'

good idea on the wheel nuts, was going to check them just in case but hadn't thought about the copper grease.

Already checked bottle jack and it seems fine.

And why do you think I've been pushing him to get a landy?

never even thought about it when i bought mine - it had 3 almost new tyres ,1 very good & the spare was almost as bald as lewis hamiltons  so i thought i'd get a brand new one on the spare & use the worst of the others (the o/s rear) as the spare.

but between when I put a deposit on it & when I picked it up there was a thread on here in the disco section about a bloke who'd got a flat on the m/way at night & couldn't get the nuts off & the locking nut was worn away & the AA man had to get a special tool blah blah blah...- so I thought 'christ, better check mine - and sure enough I couldn't shift one of em -took 2 of us about an hour I honestly thought the locking nut was never going to come off - so I checked all 4 wheels & cooper greased em all - only takes a few mins & saves hours of swearing at the roadside later
