The red one is running fine (kiss of death ?), but the black one has just thrown a wobbler. Press the tailgate button once and the top releases, press it a second time and nothing! the bottom won't unlock. I've taken the trim panel off and I can release it manually. Ideas anyone?

Is the lock clicking on second push?
If actuator is working look at latch. There is a plastic arm that changes the function of the latch after top unlocks. If it is cracked or broken that change is not achieved. Had to change mine a couple of years ago for that reason.

Surely 2 straight sixes bolted together must be twice as good?!

We had a lot more problems with the V12 than we ever had with the straight sixes. Specially when they first appeared. Bit like the early classic Range rover, went through transfer boxes like no tomorrow. Fitted loads under warranty. And was like driving a rowing boat on anything but a straight road. They were a nightmare at speed on twisty stuff.

Hi Tony, no it's not clicking on the second push and the fuel flap has stopped working as well!!! I hate electricity.

Fuse 14 BECM for fuel flap Fuse 15 BECM for tailgate lock, which runs from fuse through tailgate switch to CDL switch on drivers door.. Strange you can open top but actuator won't work on second push.

Flap actuator, tailgate switch and rear right tail lamps all ground at same point E322 if that helps. It is located behind right hand boot side panel on inner wheel arch just below and in front of rear seat release catch.

Cheers mate,I checked the earths, had trouble with Adobe not opening Rave, had to uninstall both. Reinstalled Adobe and need a link for Rave.

A silly thought - is the top tailgate catch fully retracting? I seem to remember having the issue one of mine years ago (might have been one of mine in NZ before I moved even!) where the top latch piece (that actually grabs the striker) wasn't fully rotating back and then it wasn't letting me undo the bottom half.

I lubed the catch up and used a screwdriver to start with to get the hook part to retract fully, and then it worked again to open the lower half.

Seems strange if your motor isn't running again though if you push the button again, even if it doesn't unlock...
