Am I on the right track and anything I've not thought of?

I'm up in Oban in the highlands and the disco won't start. 300 diesel on an auto box and the factory immobiliser still works.

She wouldn't start this morning, despite 2 powerpacks and jump leads, so the AA have recovered me to kwikfit who have fitted a new battery but it is still really sluggish and wont start!

I'm thinking either earth connection or starter fubar? They have tried a jump lead from earth terminal to engine block, no joy, the starter is warm to touch but not hot, you can hold your hand on it happily.

Am I missing anything before I go the whole hog and get a new starter winging its way to me?

Are you sure fuels getting to the injectors ? - Just seen thats been covered

If its not work your way back through the system, mine was sluggish to start and down on power til I changed the fuel filter, could be as simple as that if you've been running it on veg like I was

Have u tried bump starting it?

Thanks for the thoughts guys, its an auto so no bump starting unfortunately.

It is on veg on a twin tank but I changed the fuel filter 2 days ago as ive done 1000 miles since fitting so no worries there.

I checked the earth again and they are fine, so got the starter off and spun it with jump leads and obviously with no drag it spun it was Definately slower than I would expect. Long and short is I've booked my daughter and I into a b&b for the night and the new one will arrive by 9am and kwikfit will let me use their tools to fit it.

Good luck bud, and hope you get it fixed.

Lol! I've driven here so why can't you? Your help was much appreciated last time, wouldn't as you to run again! LOL.

This disco is the one I bought to replace the one I crashed after you helped me last time, but I bought it 2 days before going in for my total knee replacement so I only drove it for:kettlepot: the 1st time less than 2 weeks ago as I got on the road to drive north on holiday! I've done 1200 MILES since leaving home and other than changing the fuel filter after 1000 miles its been faultless

Couple of hours out the way. Go Kwikfit for letting you use their tools, never thought that would happen.

No, me neither! Having said that i've established family connections in the area and talked with the boys about the issue so they see I am at least up to speed with my vehicle!

I think the deciding factor however is that they are flat out! :)
