Hi Everyone Im in need of your help AGAIN,
Me being dangerous I thought I would have a look under the bonnet of my RR 4.6 vogue 50 and found that the hose from the rocker to the phelum had a hole in it so decided to change it, I found a bit of hose which would do the trick, but did not notice it had a kink halve way down, blipped the throttle, all seemed good blipped the throttle once more engine changed over to LPG and BANG it back fire through the air box, the air box is knackered, I stuck it back together and tried again and it backfired again through the air box. With the LPG switched off and just running on petrol it runs as rough as old boots, I have read all the posts about the MAF but what is it meant to look like or how do you know its working.
All help and advice welcome

Thanks Guys
Andy

Possibly it has blown head gasket across two cylinders-with insulated spark plug pliers pull one plug off and engine speed will drop-replace plug engine speed should increase. Try next one and so on

hi andy , steps to do ,, 1, put new pipe on , 2, replace maf ,3, relace air box etc what is dammaged .. things should all then be ok ,,and run correctly ,, if you need maf and air box etc check if anything else is damaged ,,then ring joe at emmotts of colne ,their our sponsers and explain whats happened and they will give you cost of replacements .. all straightforward to fit ,, emmotts will do nextday delivery for you there well recommended and top prices and top service nice people to deal with ,,tell em MOZZ told you n they will look after you ,,, if your stuck n need more help P.M.me and il'l give you my number ..cheers mozz

Not good mate, shouldn't be much pressure(if any) in the hose from rocker box, sounds like crankcase getting pressurised. Could be head gasket, blow-by past piston rings, valve seats or just major bore wear. You should only get bangs from your LPG if the mixture is too weak-is yours a single point system?

Oh yes- pull the pipe from the air filter system to the throttle butterfly off and see if the butterfly is bent, backfires can do this. If it is try straighten it but be careful, but you'll almost certainly need a new one. The mesh gauze could be blown off or mangled as well.

I have had this car 6 weeks and so far every week some thing has gone wrong
Dave theres no mesh at all on the Maf and I havent seen it when taking it to bits? where would the butterfly bit be, after the Maf is the single LPG thing.
Mozz i will in deed call Joe tomorrow and get the bits needed, other than that I bloody love this car :D
thanks guys for all your help and knowledge
Andy

Hi Mozz its single lpg system whats rave?
range rover 4.6 vogue 50 autobiography lpg system is zivolia

single point lpg are crap, multi point are far superior and less likely to back fire RAVE is the official technical manual for test and repair of LR

Ok now for the update, Mozz thanks for your help Emmotts had the parts needed, all fitted, and now she runs smooth, but still a bit lumpy on idle but evens out when you pick up the revs, going on a run with her today so hopefully the fuel trims may sort them selves out, fingers crossed,
thanks again guys for your help, and a big thanks to Emmotts or the speedy delivery and help.

Regards

Andy

HI ,keith you tractor boys are quite sad really , but i know you got a sense of humour ,the beautiful french air must be doin you some good ?????
au revoir and merci MOZZ:):):):)

Nah MOZZ we're the sensible ones, diesel goes bang but only under the influence of pressure and heat, LPG goes bang at the least excuse:eek: and the LR V8 goes bang with no excuse:eek::eek::eek:
French air definately good in the pays rural, bit wet today but good for the grass seed, sunny & warm tomorrow:D

Ok next update
The bloody thing still not right!!! still lumpy, goes to a range rover specialist tomorrow, lets hope they sort it
