Wondering if anyone can help me please

going to fit an oil pressure kit but need a shorter oil pressure switch , have been searching for ages of a site to no avail that shows the bar pressure of the switch

switch is M14 x 1.5 or can be 1/4-1/8 NPT because it will have a spare thread on the adaptor

looking for one that is around 0.70 bar , first pic is the type of connector I need just alot shorter

would be so grateful please as pulling my hair our trying to find one

many thks in advance

Why don’t you run a flexible armoured pipe from the block to a location that gives you room
To put your sensors, the only extra thing to do is make sure the sensors have there own earths,
On one of my engines (not LR) they would destroy sender units regularly due to vibration,
So fitted it remotely and it’s been good for the last 10 years,

With that kind of connector is hard to find, if you want only for a low pressure warning there are many short switches with different connections but to warn you at 0.7 bar(10psi) is a bit low IMO

Hiya

many thks as always ,

this is what doesn’t make sense , the current oil pressure switch is rated at 0.3 bar ,

According to the workshop manual The bare Min the oil pressure should be

min of 0.50 bar (7.25 psi) at idle
1.0 bar (14.5 psi) @ and above 2,500 revs

so basically wish to increase the current oil pressure switch with a higher min bar rating , so the new pressure switch will be a shorter one

I’ll set up the monitor alarm at 1.0 bar

Readings of the engine taken via a pressure gauge
20psi (1.4bar) on idle
50psi (3.4bar) 2,500 Revs

This is the kind of set up so far, it’s just finding the correct pressure switch to replace the long one I can’t find

what do us think plse , many thks

first pic is an example of where the pressure switch is fitted

Isnt the v8 3.6 or 4.4 the same but shorter?

hi mate

indeed they are but can’t find what the pressure they are

been searching for ages for a web site that shows what the various pressure sensors rating are , know the thread is NPT and not BSP

many thks as always

indeed they are but can’t find what the pressure they are
The text for the switches is like copy/paste for all D3 engines in the WSM: "The oil pressure switch connects a ground input to the instrument cluster when oil pressure is present. The switch operates at a pressure of 0.15 to 0.41 bar (2.2 to 5.9 psi)."

whats wrong with fitting the longer one? seems to fit okay in that photo!

hiya

need to unscrew the long sensor in order to get an adaptor tee in there, then on the tee to fit a sensor that goes to the oil pressure gauge , not sure I’ll be able to get the long sensor back in due to room

that’s why as suggested about replacing the longer one with a shorter sensor

however am wondering where the bolt holes are if I can use some clamps to then mount the long sensor bang on horizontally , alas won’t know really until I get the hose/ adaptor kit to see if it will go back there

also been looking for other places that I can fit the gauge and leaving that longer sensor alone , but alas haven’t found anywhere as of yet

hope that makes sense

This is the kind of hose I’m looking at, so one end of the hose fits after I’ve unscrewed rage long sensor and screw it back in the end

I dont like the ideea with long hose to the sensor cos IMO the pressure is affected in it... what about this kind of adaptor? search Y Adaptor M14 x 1.5 for Oil Pressure Sensor Assembly

hiya

now I like that , as the long sensor can go back in because it being at an angle should fit

do u happen to have a link please , also like that over the hose because it eliminates any risk of a hose leaking

that’s perfect and bless u for taking the time looking for that

thks a million as always

I couldn't put the original link cos it's from amazon unaccepted on this site, write htt in front of this : ps://www.amazon.co.uk/Raid-HP-660431-Pressure-Assembly/dp/B0046Y6A8C (EDIT: it seems it works trunkated though

fantastic, thks a million kind sir , just ordered one, also ordered a M14x1.5 to 1/4 NPT and 1/8NPT bush for when I get the pressure gauge

a lot happier not having the hose , plus can’t see why room wise the existing long sensor won’t screw back into the Y piece

cant Thk u enough and another reason I ask on here because that’s a perfect solution

bless u once again :):)
