Hi. may have a bit of problem with
BMW 2.5 deisel engine
full service history
128.000
2001 model

Noticed today a bit of oil from the filler cap , Not noticed it before.

Could it be that there is a blocked breather or is it first singe of the crankcase pressurizing .

Thanks in advance
Colin..

Maybe the PCV needs cleaning out in the cam cover. There is supposed to be a constant depression or partial vacuum in the crank case on all EGR models. Or maybe the cap seal has just gone hard.

Hi Wammers.

Sorry i am a bit thick , what is a PCV

Pressure Conscious Valve. Maybe the rubber seal has just lost it's flexibility. Lots of oil is slung around in there it will weep out is the seal is not good.

"Pressure Conscious Valve."

Course it is  how silly of me .

No seriously now, Many thanks mate will take a look into it . A lot cheaper fix than i thought it may have been . Lets hope !!

many thanks again mate

Ahhhh....hence my confusion!!

Also called a pressure regulating valve. But you can have one of those in the braking system. Or a Pressure conscious valve there also. So it depends on which end of the piece of string you have hold of at the time i suppose. :):):)
