Sorry Guys that my first post on the forum is about the dreded radio codes. I have a 96 Disco with the standard radio cassette player on board. I after following the advice on this forum left the radio on and got rid of the 'security' displayed on the radio and now have 'code in' displayed. The prob is that i have the code for it but no matter what i try i cannot get the first number to change from 1. I have tried using the tuner arrows but to no avail. Am i missing something:confused:

Thanks for helping so far and bearing up with this. The prob I have is the code is something like 7809 however the numbers are only 1-6. So i need to know how to change them :( or what Im doing wrong. No owners manual with car of course

for the first number press number 1 the correct number of times to get to the desired mumber like so

1111111 =7
22222222 =8
3333333333 =0
444444444 =9

give it a shot

On other radios instead of using 1234 try 4567 using the same method as above eg:

4444444=7
55555555=8
Nothing or 6666666666=0
777777777=9

I know this works on some car stereos!!!!

Hope this helps

Yep even started with the 6 button and tried to change it but nothing. Looks like my favourite sledge hammer might get introduced. I know its something simple but hell if I can work it out

ah well we tried.

Halfords do some good value ones for about £100 for a cd head.

You will need to check two things one is that the new stereo has a pair of line outputs for the Subs in the boot which have and amp with them and that the stereo you have has built in amps rather than seperate amp. If it is seperater you will need to bypass it.

LOL, I tried all the above, including the freezer bit, to no avail, it just said "security" so the previous owners must have had the same problem, it is now in the big sky called a land fill! :mad:
Put in a JVC with a cd shuttle unit, only to find the cd shuttle was too big by 1cm to fit under the front seat, so now looking for a home for it some where else in the car, any ideas? :confused:
