Imagine being a Series Lightweight owner breaking the cardinal sin of never greenlaning alone – imagine then getting beached with four wheels in the air with no recovery kit on board, a quick phone call to your Range Rover owning brother asking to be towed out is embarrassing enough – but imagine the blighter turns up in a Japanese soft roader to tow you out? Time to hand in your green oval?

Shame I only thought to take a piccie after I pulled him out!

Post recovery piccie.

20 lashes and a hairy woolen shirt to be worn for the week. If that doesn't learn him then we'll have to get serious.

Oh, and tell him to stick a Tirfur winch in the back just in case.

Only thing I'd say about any winch with a drum is how far you get before it needs resetting (cannot fit more on the drum). The Tirfur pulls straight through so never needs resetting until you get to the end of the cable, if you get me? Less damage to the cable too, I think.

Of course, if it is just for an emergency and never going to be used in real life ... but, what if?!

Agreed but it's an emergency winch and tidies away neater than a Tirfur. If I used one regularly I'd go for a pull through.
