Just fitted the spare wheel carrier on the recently fitted door on the back of my 90. a little faffing around with the holes not lining up and finding out I had no suitable bolts so popping to the shops to buy some, sealed it with some sealant so water doesnt seem behind it and get into the inside of the door and help the rust along. finished it and went to get the wheel to fit it on..... I now remember why I didnt have the spare mounted on the back. I had taken it off because it dont fit because the nato hitch is in the way at the bottom.
Thats a wasted morning

one of me top tips is if im fitting anything like a spare wheel carrier to a door is to get an old truck innertube and make a gasket to go between the plate and the door so it seals from the weather and in the event of ever wanting it removed it wont be a bugger to get off the door like silicone and the added bonus besides the holes it wont even dammage the paintwork lol:D:D:D:D:D

i just took it fer granted that people knew this sort of thing such as useing a bit of bicycle innertube on roof rack clamps to stop vibration and wrecking roof gutters and such ;););):D:D

or slip it on over a chain, with the help of some talcum powder, to prevent it from damaging the paint, secure it with a cable tie or two. use that for the bike...
