Hi Fellas,
Now i've been flapping for while about Traction control ability and off roading as i've never had the oppertunity to do any.
However, at a family party on Saturday I was chatting to my brothers father in law who happened to have 300 acres of farm land in Staffordshire and agreed to let me have a play in some mud on sunday morning.
I awoke to rain pouring and felt a little apprehensive about taking my shiny disco axle deep in sludge and nearly cried off. My missus however was well up for it and dragged me into the car along with the 2 dogs.
We met at the Farm and Joe was waiting for us with a brew in the shed whilst wrapping some recovery chains around the back of his tractor ready to drag us out when we inevitably got stuck. After some p*ss taking regarding the cleanliness of my motor and the crap tyres I have on, we set off, following the tractor up the lane.
After passing through several gates and a mile or two of tracks, we got into the good stuff, nice deep and sloppy amongst the cows and crap was flying everywhere. I made the mistake of having the window open at first and got covered in ****e straight off.
We traversed the top of the field, dropped down a ravine, back up over humps, dips and despite a few hairy moments, never got stuck. Hill descent was great, traction control kicked in now and then - but the old girl kept on going, despite the ****e tyres. we stayed for about 3 hours - It was great fun and the motor was amazing.
We only got stuck once but managed to back out without the need for a tow.
Joe was Pis*ed off as he was looking forward to getting some pics towing the disco out of the sludge to show his mates down the pub.
Anyway, spent 2 hours with the jet washer cleaning her off and looking forward to the next time.
I travel 130 miles everyday in the motor to work so have to be careful i don'y knacker it up but I would urge everyone to have a go. It really makes you appreciate what fine machines these disos are.
Just thought I'd share it with you - sorry for waffling.
All the best
Carl
