Nut and bolt kits

Just wondering if there is any companies that do bolt and nut sets for suspension, floor pans, bulkhead, body kits? Chassis etc all new or stainless. Btw done a search ad can't find a thing

Ive brought a load of bolts for my nut and bolt rebuild, couldnt buy them all for the same place, found yrmlandrover does a few kits and used someone on ebay for the rest

Find a local fastener supplier and work out what you need, far cheaper than buying kits from what I've seen.

Do not use stainless on anything heavy load bearing its not strong enough

Far better to go for zinc passivated which is easily obtainable in all required sizes and in grades up to the job... ie 8.8 to 12.9 depending on what your bolting.

I've rebuilt from the ground up and everything on the chassis / body is now 12.9 BZP socket capped, should at least give me a fighting chance of getting them undone in future

avoid stainless sockets though... A2 is too soft and will round out far too easily whereas you will snap the allen wrench in an M10 12.9 before you damage it

and copperslip where possible always helps.....

Hi- I bought a complete set from 'Stig's Stainless Fasteners' (Stig's Stainless Fasteners) which were great (and reasonably good value, I thought). Would recommend buying a few of the captive nuts in the doors, as some broke when I took them off.

As above don't go for stainless on anything load bearing, just use them for things like bolting the washer bottle etc, not strong enough, just done a full chassis and bulkhead change so been here before, I used bapp for bolts, cheap enough if you buy in quantity

Bought a stainless chassis rebuild kit off eBay before the build also, don't bother, more washers than nuts and bolts, waste of money

Google galvanic corrosion for another reason as to why Stainless is a bad idea. It causes rust in steel if its touching it, or corrosion in aluminum if it is in contact with that.

to give u an idea..... cash sale, m8 bzp 12.9 sockets x 200 (in number), m10 bzp 12.9 x 100 (in number) + nylocs for £15 cash if I remember correctly... been back for a shedload of m6 & m10 since :0



look good fitted imho...... although not everyones cup of tea





did start to get a bit carried away after that lol... but when you have boxes of em

Where exactly did you get them. I've looked on eblag and they are £4 -5 for 10?

speaking as someone with many years machine setting/fitting experience, I HATE ALLEN CAPS!
there out of my system.

very neat they look, but make sure you have a good quality set of keys, cos the usual monkey metal ones you pick up in halfords are ****e.

yep definitely need decent keys ... but at 43 still not grown out of shiny things lol got em from a normal backstreet bolt supplier half a mile from my work, ebay is a con for bolts....... find a good backstreet local supplier n go in with cash.... the old way of doing business before ebay lol

and trax I know first hand how bad cheap mild steel / stainless sockets are... hence the 12.9 and decent keys... your totally right about probs

Agreed, Cash is king. Ebay is just easier when you don't have much time on your hands.

try a2 stainless. I've used them countless times. Mark (owner) is really helpful and has sourced obscure bolts for me before.

Will look at them. Unfortunatly stuck over here so cant go into these places with cash
