NTC5193 Rims on a S3 SWB

Hello All,

I have a set of Discovery 1 7" steel rims, NTC5193 that I'd like to try on my 1976 SWB, which is currently running the standard 5" 231601 rims.

I've not measured yet, but according to internet searches, the NTC5193 has backspacing of 137mm. I can't find any info on what the stock 231601 backspacing is, though. Also, are the NTC5193 tubed or tubeless?

Before I go and invest in a set of tyres, has anyone out there run the Disco steels on their S3 SWB before? Am I going to run into tyre rub issues or anything else?

They do fit, there was a set fitted to my sereis 3 when I first bought it. From memory the were tubless and I don't think they caused any tyre rubbing issues. However I did not have them fitted for very long as the tyres were illegal and it was cheaper to buy a complete set of defender wheels with good used tyres than to replace the tyres on the disco rims.

Ran them for years on mine , but put some modulars on for trialing as the disco offset increases turning circle.
Currently have them on my road tyres.

I agree they should fit. Put the front ones on and do a lock to lock check in case they just touch the springs, if so adjust the stops a bit.

The look awful...IMHO.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I think I'll try to find a good set of used tyres for them to keep the cost down. Though I prefer the look of the standard rims, I want a second set of wheels ready to go for when I'm doing mostly offroad driving
