Not Starting

so went out this morning and put the key in, car told me "alarm triggered", didn't think much of it. then turned the key and it's turning over, but not even trying to fire up. was working beautifully up to now!?!

it has also said traction failure. don't want to turn over any more as the battery won't take much more.

Can petrol freeze? i don't think it was all that cold last night (in comparison) but it is parked outside my parents, which is more exposed than where i have been parking (sheltered between two buildings)

why do these things happen on christmas eve??

it won't start if the alarms triggered surely the immobiliser will have kicked in??

mmm... i hope thats it. how do i sort that?

Try entering the EKA for starters

Does it say Engine Disabled on the message centre? Or any other messages for that matter?

do i have to get the eka from land rover? is that my only choice. i've never (obviously) had to enter it, or seen/known it.

i'm looking through the whole manual trying to find a four digit code - it only says it is recorded on the security information card. i take it i'd know if i had it?

will landrover give me it over the phone? i have the chassis number, but not registration document or anything cause i'm not at my house

Its a battery problem - get it fully charged - or buy a new one.

it was new not that long ago (well maybe a year and a bit - or two cold winters as it is!)

god i hate this weather.... when its charged, will i still need the EKA code? there are no messages coming up, and its turning over, but not even trying to fire. definitely seems like its immobilised

i think you have lost the code between becm and ecu, and need a resync. you have parked it by a power drain, if you feel lucy you could try moving it 100 yd and see if it will start..

dammit. my parents have a wireless doorbell. i'm parked about 3 feet from the front door. been parked here loads, but never overnight before, and normally about 25yards away in the turning circle of the street.

i've unplugged the doorbell, and have the battery on charge, so fingers crossed.

as ever, you guys come to the rescue... on bloody christmas eve too. moved into a new house yesterday and need to be doing loads of other things!!

hope you sort it, nothing winds me up more than the bloody thing not starting. i put our door bell in the bin when i got mine..hahaha cant do that to your mums..

As it's turning over I doubt it's the immobilser - usually get Engine Disabled message and Press Remote. Make sure battery is well charged and as J says try it 100yds or so away from door/wireless hub etc.
I'd lock and unlock a couple of times first to make sure all is picking up on the fob too.........Good Luck!

anyone tried getting an eka code from these guys - they can apparently send you the code by e-mail, although they charge £17.50 for it.

Try phoning dealer for yourself but half day I reckon

i got the code from a dealer on the isle of man. i've been out to have a go, but discovered that the drivers door won't lock at all, using the fob or the key. also the tailgate button still works to open the tailgate when the car is locked. the car locks and the alarm arms, the other doors lock ok. when i open the drivers door or tailgate, the alarm sounds...

what the bloody hell is my car trying to do to me.....

You've answered your own question there - Door lock fooked hence Alarm Triggered msg!

My tailgate only locks/unlocks off key only at the mo - waitin on BeCM, but that's another story - take door card off and check linkages, broken will do it, if nowt broke it's door lock micro-switches!

ok. got the door card off and had a look in. nothing seems broken or disconnected. half way through, the message centre said "interior lights off" (?)

after having a poke about and opening handles, locking unlocking etc, the door now locks as it should, and the tailgate locks. alarm arms and everything

still not firing up, and not showing any messages on the dash. i've tried the eka code but the car doesn't recognise my attempts at inputting the code - what am i doing wrong?

working off fob i presume? sometimes need to input eka 2-3 times, must be sure battery is fully charged.........sure they got u the right eka code?

yeah, working off fob fine. and locking and unlocking from the key in the door. battery is well charged, had it on for a couple of hours earlier also. i'm not sure about the eka code being right. gave him my vin number and he gave me the code.

it won't give me any beeps when i do 4 turns to lock. this is killing me...
