I have noticed when driving up long inclines on the motorway if i put my foot down the revs rise and then the speed of the car seems to pick up but with a slight lag. I tried this on a few hills and it did the same. It drives up the hill after a short rev lag. I thought the clutch was slipping but it is fine. I can stall the car if the hand brake is on and try pulling away.

it sounds clutch , or plate contamination.. unfortutatly this is just a guess.
Not well up on engine / gearbox. sorry
is the clutch fully releasing IE not riding the clutch while driving.

i am sure that someone will be along soon

hi from lloyd herefordshire
yes it sounds like the clutch ,i had the same fault ,when the turbo came in or on a incline the clutch would slip ,if i took my foot off the accelerator it went o/k.had a lot of oil around sump, gasget.had price from garage for new clutch fited £650 ,so done it my self two days work. found oil on clutch plate and all around bell houseing.oil had leaked from crankshaft oil seal or sump gasget ,renewed both £50 and new clutch kit £112 and alls fine

Clutch slip will usually start to show in high gears first, so the fact that it will still stall in first doesn't rule it out.
Change it now, it will only get worse!
