Noisey rear!!!

Hi guys
i have a 98 freelander 1.8xei. the problem i have is a droning sound from the rear of the vehicle once i get past 25mph. i think it could be the wheel bearings but somebody has mentioned the VCU (hope not). can anybody help. and please dont say torch it:doh:

check the rear dif front mounting.

Check rear wheel bearings first. You may not be able to detect play by grabbing hold of the wheels - needs to be up on ramp with gearbox engauged and wheels turning and then you can hear them.
