I had mine done by Bell engineering 2 weeks ago - they do supply the bearings and hangers.

Recon VCU plus hangers and bearings fitted in half an hour a in for £300 - great service.

Removing the props off the VCU can be a bit of a sod as the splines sometimes seize onto the VCU shaft. Four torx headed bolts on the diff end and eight torx headed bolts on the IRD end, Four 10mm headed bolts on the centre bearing brkts and thats it except for the two bolts that hold the props onto the VCU. Took me about 20 mins to remove with the car on ramps at the back end. You will need to remove the whole drive train to renew the bearings. Try and get the new VCU supplied with the bearings and centre bearing brkts fitted.

emailed them last week and they stated that they were unable to supply the bearings and brkts, maybe they have run out of stock or perhaps keeping them for their own use (supply and fit).;)

If i get the GKN vcu and bearings from island4x4 they dont come fitted. The vcu from freelandersparesuk comes fitted with the cheap chineese bearings.

How easy is it to fit the bearings to the vcu?

£300 all in - it's £200 if you just want the VCU and fit it yourself no bearings

They do a deal on the complete job.

Speak to Austen at Bell Engineering

That's a bit pricey when you consider Bell does the job for you with VCU and a pair of bearings on hangers complete for £300

But I guess needs must if Bell are too busy

I have replaced the VCU and bearings and then taken for a run up the motorway.

Got a drone from the rear at 65 for a minute then it seemed to go, when i got back i checked the vcu and the diff and both quite hot.

Has my diff gone as well?
