Just had the 200TDi out of my RRC to change the rear crankshaft oil seal and when starting her back up there is a ridiculous amount of coolant water being pumped out. What has stumped me is that it is flowing (or seems to be) from the bell housing to gearbox join..!!!!! (auto box) and I mean flowing. The Auotbox fluid is clean, the engine oil is clean, no water coming from the head gasket (changed 10 miles ago..!!). All I can think about is a cracked block but there is also no water from the wading drain in the bell housing.

Has anybody had this happen to them ? I am at a loss and need to have a long sit down before pulling the engine out again. Thanks in advance and I hope it doesn't happen to you..!!!!!!

Alrighty then I have found the problem. All the coolant was leaking from the top bolt hole on the bell housing. Not the welch plug as I suspected. I had not put the top bolt back (bell housing/block) as it is in such a bit$h place but that was where the coolant was pumped out. I had to see it to believe it but there you go....!!!!

Not heard that one before, maybe a previous repair has gone into the water jacket?

Yup, sounds like someone has put a bolt in that was too long and it's popped the jacket.

I'd keep an eye on that...do you remember, when you took the bolt out originally, did it have any sealant or threadlock on it ?

youd be right dippy the two top bolts are different lengths

Can't remember anything special about the bolt at all. Not using any water though but will have to be aware it's a potential problem area, strange..!!
