For the last two weeks my 99 Discovery has had a starting fault that I put down to seals and washers. After replacing these it now starts first time but wont go over 50mph and is totally gutless. I've checked the usual things like oil in loom, ecu plug and carried out several purges inc the injector purge that someone mentioned in another thread.

So today I stripped it all back down again checking that I had done everything to the book and replaced the seals again(OEM). Checked that I had put the injectors in the correct sequence and its all ok. Checked round making sure I hadn't knocked anything off while doing the job

It starts first turn of the key with no smoke but wont go over 50 and struggles to get there.

Im starting to wish I had kept my 300 defender

did changing washers and o rings alter anything or just the same ,remove flter and place a container under filter head switch ignition on and see if its a good flow of fuel

First change of seals cured the starting fault but caused the lack of power.

Second change of seals still exactly the same. Removed fuel feed from the PRV and it had plenty of pressure.

Also checked for any cracks while I had the injectors out.

Do you think you may have disturbed anything else ?

I don't know much of the TD5 fuel system , but it sounds like a vacuum pipe off or split from the turbo to the fuel pump type thing ...

Had a good look over again but I cant see anything obvious. Will have another look when I'm off work next week. Other than that I will take the injectors out and have them tested.

Didnt have lack of power before. Surely if it did have a problem with the pump or regulator before it would have been down on power.
Problem was starting before but this is ok now

i assume the injectors were tested off the car? or did he test the on the car pressure in the fuel lines, because if its the latter it would suggest a new fuel pump is needed
