no drive without diff on???

is a front offside quarter shaft replacement a job for the garage or doable by a novice with a manual, how much of a job is it?

if your including about 50 tea breaks, then yea

not much more work than replacing a wheel bearing really once the shaft isn't broken or twisted awkwardly

about an hours work if your taking it leisurely

thats if none of the bolts on the hub break, all the diff nuts come off easy, the shaft hasn't mushroomed inside after breaking and if he's remembered to put gasket seal on before filling the diff up

haha... looks like i didn't edit it quick enough before I looked like an "I can do everything" fecker

Agreed though... I was changing all my brake pads and front discs the other day as one got scored due to pads getting eaten down to the metal quicker than expected one day after offroading and then towing a trailer and jimny home.

should have been all done in less than an hour or so but nope... first I wasn't thinking and I put the new drilled and grooved disc on backwards and obviously only realised it as soon as I had the wheel back on. Then taking it off the second time, the brake caliper slipped and broke the brake pipe so had to flare a new one for it.

Think I was over 3 hours by the time I had all corners done as I replaced a wheel bearing while I was at it and adjusted the two rear ones.
